No club moves distance results around more than the driver — and it's usually the one club still bought straight off a rack. A proper fitting here, finished on our own bench, is typically the single biggest gain in the bag.
Every Swing Logged, Then Built to Match
We capture ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, spin axis, and attack angle on every swing — with your current driver and every demo head we bring in against it. From there we map your delivery: swinging up or down on the ball, spin axis tilted or square, spin ballooning in the wind or knuckling out of the air short.
Once we land on a spec, the same fitter bores the hosel, trims the shaft to length, and sets the swingweight on our own scale — the recommendation and the build stay with one person, start to finish.
What Actually Changes in a Driver Build
Loft & Face Angle
Adjustable hosels let us dial loft in half-degree steps. A negative attack angle usually calls for more static loft than the number stamped on the head.
Shaft Weight & Flex
Shaft weight shapes swing timing more than a flex label alone. We test across weight classes to find the combination with the most repeatable strike, then trim it in-house.
Head Design & MOI
Higher-MOI heads resist twisting on mishits; lower-MOI heads often suit players who like to shape shots on demand.
Length
A shorter, better-controlled driver frequently outperforms a longer one on center-strike percentage — and it's easier to build a repeatable release around.
Center of Gravity
CG location shapes launch and spin independent of loft. Low-back CG heads generally raise launch while lowering spin for players chasing carry.
Grip Size & Wrap
An oversized or undersized grip changes hand action through impact. We wind every grip to the wrap count that matches your hand size on the bench.
What a Driver Fitting Can Fix
The Slice
A left-to-right spin axis tilt is usually a face-to-path issue, but the right shaft and loft combination can reduce curvature meaningfully while you work on swing mechanics.
Low, Knuckling Shots
Insufficient spin and launch — often too little static loft for your attack angle — causes shots to drop short of their potential. Adjusting loft and CG placement usually resolves this.
Ballooning in the Wind
Excess spin sends shots up and back, which costs distance in the marine wind we get off the Sound. A lower-spin shaft or head, sometimes paired with reduced loft, flattens the flight.
Inconsistent Strike Location
If your dispersion pattern shows strikes scattered across the face, a higher-MOI head paired with the right length and lie can shrink that pattern significantly.
